CBAM Consulting and Compliance Services
Effective January 1, 2026, the CBAM regulation has entered its final phase.
This means that EU importers of CBAM-covered goods—such as steel, iron, aluminum, cement, fertilizers, hydrogen, and electricity—will begin to incur costs related to the emissions embedded in the imported products (CBAM certificates).
For non-EU manufacturers that export to the EU, this profoundly changes their business relationship with European clients.
Under the CBAM a product with higher embedded emissions may result in higher CBAM costs for the EU importer.
Non-EU suppliers are therefore required to calculate, verify, and report the embedded emissions in products exported to the European Union.
Ollum offers CBAM consulting and comprehensive technical support to non-EU companies that export to the EU, assisting them every step of the way. To support its consulting services, Ollum also provides a digital CBAM platform designed to simplify the management of data and emissions calculations required by the regulation.
Why request CBAM compliance services?
Working with an expert consultant in CBAM methodology offers several advantages for non-EU companies that export to the European market.
Stay competitive with EU clients
A more carbon-intensive product will result in higher costs for EU clients, affecting sourcing, negotiations, and supplier selection.
Accurately calculating embedded emissions allows non-EU suppliers to demonstrate the true carbon impact of their products, preventing clients from applying punitive default values.
Prevent the client from using default values
In the absence of specific data, the EU importer must use default values. These values are intentionally higher than the product’s actual emissions and increase the CBAM cost associated with the imported goods.
A CBAM consultant helps you collect the correct data, apply the methodology required by the regulation, and communicate the information in a way that is clear and usable for your European clients.
Turn the CBAM into a path to improvement
Calculating embedded emissions helps identify where a product’s main emission sources are concentrated.
Ollum helps non-EU companies interpret the results and identify potential reduction measures by addressing energy consumption, fuels, raw materials, production processes, and suppliers.
In this way, the CBAM process becomes an opportunity to improve the carbon performance of products exported to the EU over time.
CBAM Digital Platform
To simplify the management of CBAM data and emissions calculations
When a company exports multiple products, operates using different production processes, or needs to collect data from multiple facilities, managing CBAM information can become complex.
That’s why Ollum can complement its CBAM consulting services with a dedicated digital platform designed to help companies collect and manage the data required by the regulation.
The digital tool supports the organized collection of data, facilitates the application of the CBAM methodology, and simplifies the calculation of embedded emissions to be reported to European importers.
For which non-EU companies might CBAM compliance services be useful?
CBAM consulting is useful for all non-European companies that export CBAM-covered products to the European Union: iron and steel; aluminum; cement; fertilizers; hydrogen; electricity; and processed and semi-finished products included within the scope of CBAM.
This service is particularly useful for non-EU companies that receive requests from their European clients for data on embedded emissions.
What steps are involved in our CBAM service?
1. Analysis of Exported Products and “Installations”
The first step is to determine which products exported to the European Union fall under the scope of the CBAM regulation.
Next, we analyze the production process and the related facilities—that is, the plants or production facilities involved in manufacturing the CBAM-covered product.
2. CBAM embedded emissions calculation
Ollum assists non-EU companies in calculating the embedded emissions of products exported to the European Union according to the CBAM methodology.
The calculation is similar to a product carbon footprint, but does not follow a full life cycle approach like a traditional LCA.
3. Preparation of the monitoring plan and support for the audit
Once embedded emissions have been calculated, it is necessary to establish a solid documentation base in preparation for an audit by a third-party organization.
Ollum assists non-EU companies in drafting their CBAM monitoring plan—the document that describes production processes, system boundaries, data sources, calculation methodologies, internal controls, and the information needed to systematically prepare for verification by an accredited third-party auditor.
4. Disclosure of Verified Data to EU Importers
After verification, data on embedded emissions can be reported to EU importers in accordance with the CBAM.
Ollum assists companies in preparing documentation to share with European clients, such as a summary report that includes verified data, key methodological information, and details that help importers meet their CBAM obligations.
When is the best time to start?
Now is the time to act. Starting in 2026, EU importers are required to pay a CBAM charge on imported goods and will need reliable data from their non-EU suppliers. If the exporting company does not calculate and report the embedded emissions of its products, the European client will have to use default emission factors. These are intentionally punitive, increasing the CBAM cost associated with the goods and making the supplier less competitive compared to those who have verified emissions data.
