Energy Audit Services & Energy Efficiency for Businesses
Energy costs continue to rise, and for many companies, energy has become one of the most difficult expense items to control. A structured energy consulting service for businesses starts with a concrete fact: how much energy is being consumed today and how.
This is where an energy audit comes into play: an in-depth analysis of the energy consumption of a company, a building, or an industrial facility, which identifies waste, inefficiencies, and the best opportunities for savings.
Our energy audit consultants turn this analysis into a concrete energy efficiency plan: practical solutions, based on advanced calculations, to reduce costs, optimize resources, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, with the new EU Directive 2023/1791, energy audits are mandatory for all companies with annual energy consumption exceeding 10 TJ.
Why should you hire an energy audit consultant?
Working with an energy audit consultant allows you to properly manage regulatory requirements and identify concrete measures to reduce energy consumption and costs, turning data into effective actions:
Less waste, more efficiency
Conducting an energy audit helps identify areas of inefficiency in your company’s energy consumption, allowing you to implement targeted solutions. Improving energy efficiency means saving on costs, optimizing resource use, reducing waste, and implementing more efficient technologies. This helps improve your company’s competitiveness, reduce its environmental impact, and move closer to sustainability goals.
Regulatory Compliance (EED Directive)
The new EU Directive 2023/1791 introduces new energy efficiency requirements, making energy audits mandatory for companies with an annual energy consumption exceeding 10 TJ across all energy carriers. SMEs are still encouraged to conduct an energy audit on a voluntary basis. In addition, energy-intensive companies may qualify for energy bill discounts, provided they have an energy audit or commit to conducting one by the end of the reference year.
A Solid Foundation for Reducing Emissions
An energy audit serves as the foundation for identifying concrete measures to reduce emissions, enabling companies to embark on decarbonization initiatives and improve their environmental performance in a structured manner. Furthermore, analyzing energy consumption helps identify the areas with the greatest impact and plan targeted actions, integrating energy efficiency with ESG goals.
Which companies are our corporate energy audit services intended for?
With the entry into force of EU Directive 2023/1791 (EED), energy audits are mandatory in the UE for companies with high energy consumption: i.e. for consumption exceeding 10 TJ per year, while an energy management system (ISO 50001) is required for consumption exceeding 85 TJ.
Even though SMEs are not required to do so, they can still reap tangible benefits in terms of reduced energy costs, while energy-intensive companies must conduct the energy audit to qualify for the available incentives.
What steps are involved in our energy audit services for businesses?
1. Planning and Data Collection
In this initial phase, the consultants at Ollum establish the project’s objectives. They identify the sites to be analyzed, define the objectives of the energy audit, and collect data on the company’s energy consumption, including system performance and historical consumption data. If necessary, they will install monitoring devices where needed.
2. Analysis of Energy Data
The collected data is processed and analyzed to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for energy efficiency. By comparing the results of the analysis with industry benchmarks, we identify areas with opportunities for improvement and energy optimization.
3. Energy Audit
An energy audit report is prepared based on the previous analysis, in accordance with current regulations.
4. Energy Efficiency Plan
Based on the analysis, Ollum proposes an action plan with specific measures to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and optimize business processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Ollum help an energy-intensive company in Italy identify its priorities for action?
Yes. For an energy-intensive company, an energy audit is the starting point for developing a comprehensive plan to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. It allows the organization to map its energy usage in detail, identify inefficiencies, quantify opportunities for improvement, and define priorities for action.
Diagnosis is not just a technical tool, but also a fundamental step in guiding business decisions: it helps identify where to take action first, which actions can yield the greatest benefits, and how to develop a realistic improvement plan. For many companies, it also represents a regulatory requirement, particularly for those subject to the obligations set forth in the new DEE Directive.
Ollum helps companies interpret the results of energy audits strategically, transforming consumption data into a concrete action plan that can be used both to improve operational performance and to launch more advanced decarbonization initiatives.
